What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is all about learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance. Rather than worrying about what has happened or might happen, it trains us to respond skillfully to whatever is happening right now, be that good or bad.  Mindfulness is different than meditation for it does not involve mantra, chanting, prayer or worship of any kind.

Who’s it for? Youth and adults can benefit from Mindfulness training. I work with individuals, work groups, schools, book groups, non-profit organizations and corporations.  Physicians are now suggesting mindfulness classes for patients struggling with high stress, anger issues, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression.

Why do it?  Mindfulness is a learned practice that has received scientific attention as a holistic way to lessen stress, anxious thoughts and sleeplessness by using the practice of mindfulness. Also, mental balance and clarity of mind result from regular practice.

  • Introduction to Mindfulness - 4 week course for individuals just beginning to explore mindfulness
  • Mindful Parenting - Workshop offered to parents of all age children

Introduction to Mindfulness -     Class will start at the beginning of the month and will restart every 4 weeks .  Next 4 week session will run Wednesdays from 6:15pm to 7:30pm beginning on September 6, 2017.    Start your mindfulness journey with this 4 week beginner class and start to experience the physical, emotional and health benefits of a mindfulness practice.  Cost:  $170.00 (includes book and handouts)   More information on this course can be found on the "Classes" tab.   Location:  New Directions Office at 202 W. Mindful Parenting-                               Are you "reacting" to your kids rather than "responding" to them?  This workshop is designed to introduce parents (of any age children) to a more mindful and stress reducing style of parenting.   Cost:  $50.00 per person /$75.00 per couple.  More information on this course can be found on the "Classes" tab. Location:  New Directions office at 202 W.
